Family Matters and Unity of Mission

John 17:21 “that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

On my refrigerator is a picture of my Turkish grandparents—a daily reminder of my heritage. Though I never met my grandfather, Halil Nabi, I feel deeply connected to his courage. He left his homeland to build a new life in America. His decision still shapes my story today. I am proud to be a Nabi.

In a similar way, I am proud to be part of our associational family—Converge. While I don’t share Swedish roots, I deeply appreciate the theological clarity, conviction, and love for God’s Word that have defined this movement for generations. That heritage is not just something we look back on—it’s something we carry forward.

This summer, we have a unique opportunity to step into that shared identity together.

Converge is hosting a national gathering in the Washington, DC area—Together 2026—celebrating 170 years of ministry while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities before us. This is more than a conference; it’s a family gathering. A chance to learn from those who have gone before us and to be freshly challenged in our devotion to Christ and His mission.

I plan to be there. I want to sit under the wisdom of faithful leaders, reconnect with our shared mission, and be stirred toward greater love for Christ and His church.

Would you consider joining me?

If you’ve ever asked, “Who are we as Converge?” or “How do I fit into something bigger than my local church?”—this is the place to find those answers. It’s where our shared theology, mission, and relationships come into clearer focus.

And let me address a common barrier—cost. If finances are a concern, please reach out. There are national and district scholarships available that can significantly reduce the expense. We want strong representation from our Great Lakes churches, and we don’t want cost to keep you from being part of this.

Jesus prayed in John 17 for a supernatural unity among His followers—a unity that would fuel the mission of the church. That unity is not abstract. It takes shape in relationships, shared convictions, and partnerships in the gospel.

One of the clearest ways we live that out is by gathering.

So here’s the invitation:

Make the decision now to be there.

Block the dates. Start the conversation. Take the step.

I would genuinely love to see you there—standing together as one family, united in Christ, and committed to His mission.
