Show Compassion

Living Out Our Call

Being compassionate is living out our call to follow Jesus and to reflect His heart of love day in and day. Compassion is not something that is separate and distinct from the powerful message and story of Jesus, shared in words. The two go hand in hand.

Showing compassion manifests itself in many ways and forms.  It may involve coming alongside a pastor or leader who has experienced grief due to the loss of a beloved spouse. It may involve coming alongside a neighboring church picking up the pieces after disaster. It may involve showing Jesus love and kindness to orphans in Haiti.  It may involve giving from our wealth to help those victimized by an earthquake in Japan.  It always involves sacrifice.  And it always involves being Jesus in deed and in word to those in need.  It’s sharing in the sufferings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  In Converge Great Lakes we have a specific initiative focus in the area of Compassion. Through the Compassion Ministries Initiative is working to equip churches to do works of compassion as an extension of the Gospel. There are many needs present in our congregations, especially in churches serving smaller communities or smaller churches immersed in larger communities.

Please look through the opportunities and the stories of compassion in our regional movement.  It’s our hope that you’ll experience something of the touch of Christ.  And it’s our prayer that you’ll play your part in showing compassion to those in our world who need to experience the touch of Jesus Christ.
